SWITZERLAND 22-24 Oct 2010 Montreux hosts 13th Francophonie Summit

The leaders of the world`s French-speaking nations meet in the Lake Geneva town of Montreux despite an upset over the Nov 29 Swiss ban on minaret construction. The 56-nation International Organization of Francophonie (IOF) has seven Muslim member states. The meeting will elect an IOF Secretary-General. Senegalese President Abdou Diouf plans to run for a third, four-year term as Francophonie head.
