A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed on the 17th of May in Paris between Launchlab (Stellenbosch University), Bordeaux Technowest and the cluster Innovin (New-Aquitaine Region), during VIVATECH.
VivaTech is the world’s rendezvous for startups and leaders to celebrate innovation. It’s a gathering of the world’s brightest minds, talents, and products taking place in Paris. On the occasion of this summit, the South African incubator Launchlab, linked to the University of Stellenbosch, Bordeaux Technowest and the Innovin Cluster (New-Aquitaine) have signed a memorandum of understanding to foster the internationalization of their respective members.
Seeking out new markets abroad is critical for the development and the sustainability of young enterprises. This new partnership on soft-landing aims to facilitate international mobility between French and South African startups in the wine industry, a key economic sector for both France and South Africa. This collaboration will provide the ideal conditions to the selected startups to exchange scientific and industrial expertise and to have access to a privileged ecosystem, with experts committed to support the development of new technologies.
The French Embassy in South Africa strongly supports and encourages cooperation in the wine industry, a sector which has to reinvent itself and to innovate to tackle the challenges caused by the climate change.
The cooperation agreement was signed in the presence of Mandisa Tshikwatamba (CEO - Small Enterprise and Development Agency) and elected representatives of the New-Aquitaine region: Mathieu Hazouard, in charge of Digital and Anne-Laure Bedu, in charge of economic development, tech transfer and innovation.
