Ambassador Barbier and Gauteng Premier attend business breakfast hosted by FSACCI
On Thursday 7 July 2016, Ambassador of France to South Africa, Elisabeth Barbier, and Premier of Gauteng, David Makhura, attended a breakfast meeting with French companies in South Africa to discuss investment opportunities in the Gauteng province. The breakfast was hosted by the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FSACCI) in Johannesburg.
Premier Makhura recently expressed his interest in addressing the French business community regarding investing in the province at the heart of the South African economy.
Makhura said France is a key player, not just in Europe but in the European Union and the global economy: "French companies have a presence in our country and the French people are an integral part of South Africa, having arrived here many years ago".
Seventy percent of the more than 360 French companies have their South African headquarters in this province.
French companies in South Africa employ almost 37 000 people directly.
Said Ambassador Barbier: "We can do better and I really wish our event will facilitate French investment in Gauteng, and even beyond".
