Ambassador Barbier at CPUT Autumn Graduation Ceremony [fr]
Ambassador of France in South Africa and Lesotho Elisabeth Barbier attended Cape Peninsula University of Technology’s Autumn Graduation ceremony on April 15 2015.
During her speech, Ambassador Elisabeth Barbier reflected on the success of the relationships between various French entities and CPUT, and, in particular on F’SATI (French South African Institute of Technology), which is the result of the partnership of Paris Ile-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry, its Engineering School
(ESIEE Paris), the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and the Université de Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC).
Established several years ago, F’SATI houses CPUT’s postgraduate programme in Satellite Systems Engineering. The unit is responsible for building and launching Africa’s first nanostallite, TshepisoSAT.
Some others notable partnerships include the establishment of the Product Lifecycle Management Competency Centre at the Bellville Campus as well as the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the university’s School of Sport, Events, Tourism and Hospitality and the Ferrandi French School of Culinary Arts.
Ambassador Barbier declared that the French Embassy and CPUT will also sign soon an agreement that will see the roll-out of French lessons at the university.
