Ambassador Barbier supports So Chef! 2016
On Wednesday 18 October 2016, Ambassador of France to South Africa HE Elisabeth Barbier visited Chipa-Tabane school in Cullinan as part of So Chef! 2016.
Grade 10 and 11 hospitality pupils from the school took part in a workshop presented by French chefs Cyril Bonnard and Marie Wucher from the Alsace region. The pupils prepared lamb cutlets, minted peas and yogurt sauce, with the help of the visiting chefs, for Ambassador Barbier to try.
Ambassador Barbier was accompanied by Marion Claudel, Deputy Director of the French Institute of South Africa and Corinne Verdier, Director of the Alliance Française Pretoria and their respective teams.
The workshop was presented in partnership with the South African Department of Basic Education, the French Institute of South Africa and the Alliance Française de Pretoria. Coinciding with South African National Nutrition Week (9 to 15 October), So Chef! forms part of a partnership agreement between the Department of Basic Education and the French Embassy in South Africa for collaboration and cooperation in promoting nutrition education in schools.
So Chef! 2016 takes place from 9 to 22 October in seven cities in South Africa and Lesotho: Cape Town, Durban, East London, Johannesburg, Maseru, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria.
