Ambassador Barbier visits the Innovation Hub’s Climate Innovation Center
On 25 November 2015, the Ambassador of France to South Africa, HE Elisabeth Barbier, visited the Innovation Hub’s Climate Innovation Center in Pretoria.
5 days ahead of COP21, this visit echoes the engagement of France to develop solutions for climate change, and its strong commitment to forge links with partner countries in Africa.
The Climate Innovation Center South Africa (CICSA) is a strategic Green Economy Initiative of the Innovation Hub Management Company (TIHMC) which was established by the Gauteng Department of Economic Development, through its agency, the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency.
CICSA is also part of the World Bank infoDev network of Climate Innovation Centers. The CICSA is one of seven Climate Innovation Centers located in various developing countries around the world, with the main goal of accelerating locally owned, locally developed solutions to climate change.
The Ambassador of France saw approximately ten different South-African projects, which were presented to her by their designers. All these projects are being developed within the Climate Innovation Center, around the theme “greentech”.
France fully supports these projects in scientific and innovation cooperation.
