Ambassador Farnaud awards Craig Lambinon of the National Sea Rescue Institute
Ambassador of France to South Africa, H.E. Mr. Christophe Farnaud, on 19 November 2018 bestowed the insignia of Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Maritime on Mr. Craig Lambinon, for his 25 years involvement as a volunteer for the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI).
The French insignia of Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Maritime celebrates the accomplishments of distinguished individuals in the Marine, irrespective of sex, social background and nationality. Established in 1930 in France at the instigation of Louis Rollin, Minister of the Merchant Navy, the Order of the Maritime Merit is intended to reward the professional value of seafarers and the merit of citizens who have distinguished themselves by their services for the development and influence of maritime activities.
The ceremony took place on board the Le Floréal, the French surveillance frigate undertaking a routine stopover at the port of Cape Town from 19 to 23 November 2018.
