Ambassador Lapouge hosts a parliamentary reception in Cape Town
On 14 February 2012 Ambassador Jacques Lapouge was in Cape Town to host some of South Africa’s parliamentarians and other dignitaries for a reception in honour of the opening of Parliament. The reception was attended by 400 guests and was hosted at the Ambassadors residence in Cape Town. Among the guests were representatives from the Diplomatic Corps, South African MPs and members of the national and local government, journalists, artists, South African and French business leaders. In addition, the Mayor of Cape Town, Patricia De Lille and the Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane were present at the dinner. During his speech, Ambassador Lapouge outlined the successes of the last year in Franco-South African relations and encouraged all the attendees to participate in the French Season in South Africa that will take place from June to November this year. The Season will be an opportunity to showcase French fine arts and literature, music and dance, science and business in South Africa and will be followed by a reciprocal South African Season in France in 2013.
