Ambassador Lapouge at the 2012 Africa Aerospace and Defence Airshow
On the 20th of September, 2012, H.E Jacques Lapouge, French Ambassador in South Africa, visited the 2012 Africa Aerospace and Defence Airshow at Waterkloof Air Force Base.
During the visit, he met several French industrial companies attending the 2012 edition of this major platform for Africa’s defence.
Along with brigadier general Jean-Luc Combrisson and captain (navy) Jean-Claude Barrere, H.E Jacques Lapouge had a discussion with the representatives of EADS-Eurocopter, Renault Trucks Défense, DCNS, Thales and MBDA. These talks were the opportunity to take stock of the French firms presence in and commitment to South Africa. Discussions were also a unique opportunity to move forward on the French involvement in expected South African industrial bids.
Later on, the French Ambassador visited the « French pavilion » to meet with companies trying to break into the South African market.
On this occasion, H.E Jacques Lapouge reasserted the durability of the French presence in South Africa as well as the willingness of French industrial firms to develop strong and long-term partnerships with their South African counterparts in order to achieve large-scale project altogether.
