French as a second additional language was one of the subjects hosted at the International Examination Board conference (IEB) which took place on 4 February 2017 at the Birchwood conference centre.

French teachers of schools from all over South Africa following the IEB exams gathered to meet and discuss the successes, difficulties and strategies in teaching French as a second additional language.

Under the topics discussed were also the examiner’s report for the two grade 12 exam papers of 2016 and the national portfolio and oral moderation reports. International exchange program opportunities were also presented which included a presentation by Campus France South Africa.
Campus France is a French agency that promotes the French higher education system and supports international student and researcher mobility to France.

Campus France also supports students with a South African National Senior Certificate and a DELF B2 level in French with the administration process to apply to French universities for undergraduate degrees. The undergraduate application process (DAP, “Demande d’Admission Préalable”) for the academic year starting in September 2017 (2017/2018) already closed 22 January 2017. Students who want to register for 2018/2019 must contact Campus France by the end of this year for more information on the application process.

The French Embassy and Campus France would like to thank the French teachers of South Africa for their hard work and encourage them to motivate and inspire their students to pass the DELF B2 exams and explore the tertiary study opportunities in France.
