Cape Town International Animation Festival - 3 to 5 March 2017
From 3 to 5 March 2017, the 6th Cape Town International Animation Festival will take place at the River Club in Observatory and at the Labia Cinema Cape Town.
The Cape Town International Animation Festival is presented by Animation SA with the support of the French Institute of South Africa.
Ambassador of France to South Africa, H.E. Christophe Farnaud, will be at the festival on Saturday 4 March to meet French participants and South African professionals.
The annual festival will offer the chance to catch some of the world’s best French animated films.
The conference programme will feature an exciting range of masterclasses and workshops with global industry leaders, including French producer Ivan Rouveure (Ernest & Celestine, Kirikou and the Men and Women) and International Animation Film Market (Mifa, Annecy) Head of projects, Véronique Encrenaz.

The Red Turtle

A co-production between Wild Bunch and Studio Ghibli. Through the story of a man shipwrecked on a tropical island inhabited by turtles, crabs and birds, The Red Turtle recounts the milestones in the life of a human being.
My Life as a Courgette
8:00PM, Saturday March 4, Outdoor Theatre
Amongst the not-to-be-missed rendez-vous of this 6th edition of CTIAF! This stop-motion feature film by Claude Barras (French-Swiss Academy Award nominated Film) is adapted from Gilles Paris’ book about children and the strength of resilience amongst a group of friends, advocating empathy, comradery, sharing and tolerance.

- Véronique Encrenaz is Head of Projects at the International Animation Film Market (Mifa), which is associated with the Annecy Animation Film Festival, the largest animation-focused market and festival in the world.
