Twelve people including two police officers were killed in a shooting at the Paris offices of the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo.

We as the Nizamiye Mosque would like to declare that any violent and terrorist activity, no matter who does it and for what purpose, is the greatest blow to peace, humanity, and all religious values. No one - and certainly no Muslims - can approve of any violent and terrorist activity.
Terror and violence is totally incompatible with Islam and it has no place in one’s quest to achieve independence or salvation.

So, we strongly condemn this violent and terrorist attack on the Charlie Hebdo and share the pains of the victims and the whole French society.

My sincere condolences to you and to all the people of France on the tragic and sad loss of innocent lives during the recent attacks in Paris. It is difficult to believe that the World in the 21st Century still has human beings with such appalling fundamentalist ideas and whose consciousness fails to evolve. May the Divine bless you all with courage and the strength to overcome. Love and Unity will emerge victorious.

Dear Ambassador Barbier

Never would I have thought that I would begin my first day back at the office composing a condolence letter of this nature to you and to the French people following such a devastating tragedy.

It was extraordinary yesterday to witness the unity with which the French people protested these horrific acts of terror.

We offer our support and solidarity as France embarks on a new dawn against terror.

I express to you and to the French people our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your journalists, members of law enforcement and our fellow Jewish brothers who were murdered last week in Paris.

Dear Embassy of France in South Africa

Condolences for the losses of the lives of the people who have been attacked due to free speech in your home nation. It is sad to see that extremism is growing rapidly and proportionally to the amount of people immigrating to Europe.

I wish the families of the victims to have comfort in the fact that the members of the newspaper stood for freedom and what is right and died for what is right as martyrs for the freedom of speech and the police officers died doing their duty. I pray that attacks like these may be prevented in the future.

Kindest Regards ;

RSA Citizen

I am deeply shocked to learn of the attack at Charlie Hebdo magazine office in Paris, the Republic of France on January 7, 2015 which resulted in the death of the Editor, other media persons of the magazine, security personnel and several injuries. I, in line with the principled stance of the Government of Nepal against the act of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, condemn this terrorist and unpardonable attack on media house and associated personnel in unequivocal terms. This brutal murder and cowardly act of terrorism is completely unjustified and cannot be condoned on any ground.

At this difficult time, on behalf of the Government and people of Nepal as well as the

Nothing can justify such an attack and those who organised and committed these crimes should be brought to justice, Human Rights Watch said. France should protect freedom of expression and guard against any backlash against particular groups.

Sincerest condolences and sympathies to the families and friends of those journalists and others murdered on 7th January15

But where does it all end ?

These terrorists have thrown down the gauntlet and factually declared war on the French Nation.

If this is seen as an act of criminal war (whether war be declared or not !) then one might suggest that if and when captured the criminals face trial by a Military Court /Tribunal

If found guilty they could face a firing squad !

Sure, they might consider themselves martyrs, but most ordinary people would understand the true nature of their hateful deeds.
