EuroScience Open Forum: 9-14 July 2018 in Toulouse in the presence of Minister for Science & Technology Mmamoloko KUBAYI-NGUBANE
Created in 2004, EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) is the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe. It is dedicated to scientific research and innovation and offers a unique framework for interaction and debate for scientists, innovators, policy makers, business people and the general public. The 8th edition of ESOF will take place in Toulouse, France, from 9 till 14 July 2018 under the motto “Sharing Science: towards new horizons”.
This biennial European forum brings together over 4,000 researchers, educators, business actors, policy makers and journalists from all over the world to discuss breakthroughs in science. During the professional forum, about 200 sessions will be presented throughout:
• a "Science Programme”,
• a “Science to Business Programme”,
• a “Science Policy Programme”,
• a “Careers Programme” and
• a “Media Programme”.
These conferences and interactive debates will address current scientific and societal issues like “Frontier research”, “Health in our societies”, “Sustainable cities and living”, “Digital world”, “New technologies in transport”, “Climate change”, “Silver Economy”, “Science policy and transformation of research practice”, “Social utility of researchers”, “Tourism, new way of life” or “Science and Entrepreneurship. Posters sessions and competitions specifically directed towards students and young researchers will also be organised, with the same objective: sharing expertise and ideas and promoting meetings and new ways of thinking and networking.
On this occasion, Minister for Science & Technology of the Government of South Africa Mmamoloko KUBAYI-NGUBANE will be present and a special focus on Africa will be given with the panel session " Science in Africa - working towards Agenda 2063 & new paradigms in STI partnerships" on 10 July at 10:15, submited by DST and IRD : Vinny PILLAY - South African Department of Science and Technology & Jean Albergel - Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD). ,
