Exhibition "Women in Resistance" in Johannesburg [fr]

On Thursday 6 August 2015, the international photo exhibition by French photographer Pierre-Yves Ginet, entitled Women in Resistance, was launched at the Alliance Française in Johannesburg.

Women in Resistance, a travelling exhibition, showcases different women from around the world who are in various ways fighting for equality, justice, dignity and survival. Ginet has captured 22 breathtaking portraits of 25 groups of women in 25 countries, accompanied by English/French texts.

Ambassador of France to South Africa, HE Elisabeth Barbier, attended the opening. Also in attendance, in honour of Women’s Month (August), was Première Conseillère of the Embassy Charlotte Montel, development and cooperation attaché at the Embassy Lucie Broechler, freelance journalist Liesl Louw-Vaudran, Wits University lecturer Polo Moji and head of Conflict Prevention and Risk Analysis at the Institute for Security Studies, Stephanie Wolters.

The exhibition will run until 24 August. Entrance is free.

It has also been on display in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Pretoria and Maseru in Lesotho.
