France hosts parliamentary reception in Cape Town (18 February 2013)
On Monday 18 February 2013 France hosted its annual parliamentary reception in Cape Town. The event, a highlight of the Embassy’s annual decampment to the mother city, was attended by over 250 guests. This included the Mayor of Cape Town, Patricia de Lille, parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic corps, civil society and other friends of the French community in Cape Town.
It was also a chance for Ambassador Designate Elisabeth barbier to introduce herself, a week after arriving in South Africa. The Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires reflected on the successes of 2012 in the bilateral relationship between France and South Africa, particularly the French Season in South Africa. He also looked forward to a fruitful 2013, which would include the reciprocal South African Season in France.
