Heather Peel receives the insignia of the Order of Academic Palms [fr]
Ambassador of France to South Africa, HE Christophe Farnaud, on Friday 2 June 2017 bestowed on Ms. Heather Peel the award of Chevalier dans l’ordre des Palmes académiques at the Museum of the Old Prison in Pietermaritzburg.
Ms. Heather Peel has many responsibilities in the promotion of the French language in South Africa. She is a French teacher and head of department at the prestigious Hilton College. She has also been an examiner, moderator and coordinator of French language examinations for many years on behalf of the Independent Examinations Board (IEB). She holds a Master’s degree in French, and she is also qualified to train DELF-DALF examiners up to level C2.
She is well-known among the francophones and francophiles of KwaZulu-Natal and she is appreciated for her dynamism, her high standard of teaching the French language and her commitment to the promotion of French language and culture.
It is because of these outstanding qualities and longstanding commitment that Ms Heather Peel was awarded Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes académiques, by decree of the French Prime Minister.
