- Different fight for freedom: An exhibition opening in celebration of the day against homophobia. The International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia aims at raising awareness of LGBT rights violations and commemorating the decision to remove homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases of the World Health Organization (WHO), the 17th of May 1990.

- Digital short stories: In 2013, the French Civil Society Development Fund supported an innovative joint project by Gay and Lesbian Memory in Action (GALA) that sought to create a positive change in safety and security for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex. 12 lesbian women largely from Alexandra Township in Johannesburg participated to a workshop to reflect about their experiences of discrimination and violence through storytelling and as a collective of women.
Digital stories are the personal narratives that emerged from the workshop contributing to the complex negotiation of the women’s sexuality.

- Foot for love (documentary): June 24, 2012: in the pouring rain, a football game unlike any other takes place at the famous “Parc des Princes” stadium. Two women’s teams face one another on the pitch: the Thokozani Football Club, from a township near Durban and the Parisian team “Les Dégommeuses. On the pitch, the South African players show the same determination they have in life, confronted, as they are, by violence and discrimination towards black women who transgress gender norms. The game ends with a 2 to 1 for “Les Dégommeuses”. But the players of the Thokozani FC have not said their last word.

You are warmly welcome to the Alliance Française on the 16th of May at 18.00 (for 18.30) to attend this celebration day.
