Lycée Jules Verne - Letter from The Headmistress
Dear Madam, Sir,
We are pleased to inform you that we foresee reopening the Lycée Français Jules Verne to all our students on Tuesday, 1 September 2020. We have taken into account the recent evolution of the Covid-19 epidemic in South Africa, the modifications to the lock-down regulations instituted by the South African Government as well as the recommendations of the AEFE (the Agency for French Education Abroad). The decision to reopen the Lycée was taken in consultation with the School Board and has the approval of the French Embassy.
The return of our students to the classroom will take place in strict adherence to the health and safety protocols compiled and approved by the school governing bodies in collaboration with the AEFE during June 2020. The primary objective is to ensure the health and safety of all. Our teams are already fully engaged in rigorously implementing the protocol.
On 24 August 2020, each family will receive a detailed protocol specific to their child’s age group.
We would like to remind you that online classes remain available to all students who are unable to return to the classroom environment, whatever the reason may be for their absence.
We will continue to closely monitor the development of the situation in South Africa and will adjust our strategy if and when necessary.
Once again, we would like to sincerely thank you for your support and the confidence that you have placed in us. We wish you all a wonderful new school year.
The Lycée Jules Verne school community has shown extraordinary solidarity since the beginning of this unprecedented crisis. Together, we will be able to stay the course in the best interests of all our students.
