On the 21 February 2019, the Ambassador of France H.E. Christophe Farnaud opened the exhibition Wine of Exile: The Wine of Napoleon on St. Helena at Groot Constantia. The exhibition will run until 21 June 2019.
The exhibits, which belonged to Napoleon or that he used during his stay on this island, are issued of the collections of Iziko, the Napoleon Foundation, the Government of St Helena, Groot Constantia and the National Domains.
From 1815 to 1821, Napoleon was exiled to St. Helena, a remote island situated in the South Atlantic Ocean. While he was living on the island, Napoleon ordered a wine produced in Cape Town, in Constantia, called the "Vin Grand Constance".
