Preview of IVECO’s new plant [fr]
On 19 November 2014, Ambassador Barbier attended a preview of IVECO’s new plant in Rosslyn (Pretoria).
IVECO was founded in 1975 and is a world leader in road transport. Today, the
company is present in over 160 countries. IVECO has a long history with South Africa. The company first commenced with the import, sales and distribution of its vehicles in South Africa over 20 years ago in 1993. Now IVECO has 18 sales and service dealers, 11 service dealers and 4 authorised repairers to provide transport to professionals with nationwide coverage of 29 points located from the North to the South of the country.
In France, IVECO owns two manufacturing sites: in Annonay (more than 1200 employees) and Rorthais (450 employees). In 2013, both of the production sites won
the label "French origin guaranteed".
As of July this year, production at the new Rosslyn plant started on the assembly of medium, heavy and extra-heavy duty commercial vehicles, in addition to front engined and low floor city buses. This new plant will be supplied by the Annonay production site.
