SA Department of Basic Education visits France
A delegation from the South African Department of Basic Education (DBE) visited France for a study tour from 9 to 13 October 2017.
The French Embassy in South Africa responded to the request of the Director General of the department to explore French expertise in education, particularly in the fields of technical and vocational education and the training of headmasters.
The visit was jointly organised by the French Embassy in South Africa and the Centre international d’études pédagogiques (agency under the French Ministry of Education in charge of international cooperation).
The five-day trip included interviews and meetings at the Ministry of National Education and numerous field visits in Paris, Poitiers and Toulouse, where a visit of Airbus factory was also organised.
The delegation was composed of five senior officials from the department and was led by the Deputy Director General in charge of curriculums.
