Sustainable City Conference
On 6 November 2018, the Sustainable City Conference was held at the Hyatt Regency Rosebank Hotel, in Johannesburg. Close to 200 French and South African stakeholders met in order to exchange their visions about tomorrow’s city in South Africa.
The forum has been inaugurated by Alex Baroux, director of Business France in Austral Africa and William Roos, head of the Regional Economic Service of sub-Saharan Africa. This event was a unique opportunity for French companies to present their expertise on the Sustainable City with experts, in order to understand the specificities of the South African city.
South Africa faces many technical and financial obstacles for the setting of its urban agenda. France has already showed its cooperation in the fields of transport, water, electricity… Sectorial workshops have gathered French CEO, South African associations and representatives of the South African government (local, provincial and national levels).
This event was organized by the French economic network in South Africa (Economic Servic, Business France, FSACCI, AFD, CCEF), in collaboration with its South African partners (CoGTA, IUDF et ICLEI). It has been supported by the Faurecia, Saint-Gobain and RATP Dev Groups.
