The Ambassador of France meets the NGO Ikamva Labantu
On 19 November 2018, the Ambassador of France in South Africa, H.E. Christophe Farnaud, met the NGO Ikamva Labantu dedicated to older persons at Du Noon’s Senior Center. The centre, in a township near Cape Town, has been renovated using a part of a subvention that the French Embassy was able to secure for Ikamva Labantu in 2017.
Ikamva Labantu does extraordinary work with local authorities, civil society, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, volunteers and voluntary organizations, older persons themselves and associations for and of older persons, as well as families and communities.
The French Ambassador delivered a subvention of € 4.000 to Ikamva Labantu, in the framework of France commitment toward strengthening the work of civil society’s organizations in South Africa.
France has awarded Ms Lieberman, the founder of Ikamva Labantu, with the distinction of “Officier de la Légion d’Honneur” (Officer of the French Legion of Honour), the highest French distinction.
