“The Future of the South African-French Science and Innovation cooperation”

On Friday 5 October 2018 took place in Cape Town’s start-up incubator Workshop17 the French – South Africa Science and Innovation forum, in presence of the Ambassador of France to South Africa, H.E. Christophe Farnaud.

The event started with a panel discussion on the link between science and innovation and its importance in economic development. Major stakeholders from university, technology transfer center, start-up, financial actors and tech environment addressed this challenge. The panel was followed by pitches of start-ups that are emblematic of the cooperation between French and South African innovation ecosystems.

A high-level delegation of French business CEOs attended this collaborative event, as a great opportunity for partnerships and networking.

Cape Town is home to a highly developed technological and academic ecosystem. It comprises 60% of the country’s technology start-ups, employing more than 40.000 people, and hosts four universities which represent 1/3 of the country’s scientific and technological potential.

This event was organized with Wesgro, Silicon Cape and French Tech Cape Town.
