“The New Dawn!”, the French - South African Business Forum
On 4 October 2018, the French-South African Business Forum “The New Dawn!” was held at the Hyatt Regency Rosebank hotel, in Johannesburg. Around 200 South African and French economic stakeholders have met to further strengthen the economic links between the two countries.
The forum was inaugurated by Mr Rob Davies, Minister of Trade and Industry, and Ambassador of France to South Africa, H.E. Mr. Christophe Farnaud. It was an exceptional opportunity for South African and French companies to share their expertise and to participate in high-level panels, sector-specific workshops and business meetings. South Africa is the first trading partner of France in Sub-Saharan Africa. French companies contribute significantly to its economic development: close to 400 French companies are established here. Most of them are listed in the CAC 40, but there are also many SMEs. They cover all sectors (energy, transport, construction, retail…), and directly employ close to 40 000 people.
This event was organised by the French economic network in South Africa (Embassy of France, Business France, FSACCI, CCEF), in collaboration with its South African partners (The Department of Trade & Industry, Business Unity South Africa, Business Leadership South Africa, Black Business Council & The National Empowerment Fund). It was supported by the BNPParibas/RCS Group (Exclusive Banking Sponsor), Bureau Véritas, Port de Dunkerque, JCDecaux (Platinium Sponsors), BCG, EDF, Engie, Fasken, Mazars, Saint-Gobain (Gold Sponsors), Total, Bolloré Logistics and Air Liquide (Silver Sponsors).
