Visit of Schneider Electric’s new plant in Johannesburg [fr]
On 21 January 2015, Ambassador Barbier visited the new Schneider Electric’s plant in Johannesburg. She was accompanied by representatives of the Department of Economic Affairs and the French Trade Commission-Business France in South Africa.
This new plant, which employs 230 persons, has been operational since July 2014. As the group’s second plant in Africa, it represents the ambition of Schneider Electric on the continent. Including an engineering centre, a training centre with a 80-seat auditorium and a logistic centre, the Johannesburg plant is a master piece and South Africa was chosen as the group’s hub in Southern Africa. As an illustration, 1000 people are currently employed by them in the country.
The Ambassador’s word:
« This new plant in Johannesburg, very ergonomic with a relaxing design, will help Schneider Electric to sell but also to produce in Southern Africa. It represents a key step towards a bigger development of the group presence in the area."
